This has not happened before in my lifetime. The UK is white. All of it.

  2. Not wanting to be pedantic (shock), but isn’t this really the first time we’ve been able to see a total white-out before?

    I think the last ‘big freeze’ – 1981 (notable because I arrived in the UK from the tropics as a baby in the middle of it) had a similar effect – and was as prolonged as this freeze is. There just wasn’t a satellite taking photos of it back then…

    Obviously, my case would be improved with evidence, but I can’t find any – apart from this: http://www.inthenews.co.uk/news/uk/cold-spell-worst-since-1981-says-met-office-$1351352.htm
